Tooth of the Arrow FAQ

Do Tooth of the Arrow broadheads work well with crossbows?

Our 1” V-series broadheads are known to be the most accurate fixed blade broadheads ever made, they work amazingly well out of crossbows! We do not recommend the XL models though, they are geared towards the compound and traditional shooters who have less speed to worry about.

Besides the cutting diameter, what is the difference between the 1-inch models and the 1-3/16-inch models?

The 1” models offer greater penetration and sometimes show improved flight characteristics due to their compactness. Generally, we recommend the 1” models for bigger animals like elk and moose to maximize your penetration potential. The XL are leading choices for deer, bear, and similar sized game. Remember, if a small diameter broadhead goes deeper into a target than a wider one, it has actually done more cutting, just on a different axis!

What is the difference between the S-series and V-series models?

V-series broadheads tend to be more forgiving when shot out of a sub-optimally setup/tuned bow. In theory, the S-series broadheads will be quieter in flight, though we rarely hear of any noise issues from V-series heads.

If you know that your bow is perfect, and arrows have been spine matched and built perfectly, then opt for an S-series. If you aren’t sure or 100% confident, go with a V-series.

Remember, any quality fixed blade will fly out of any bow if it is setup correctly and if your arrows are tuned properly!

If you go with an S-series are find that you have some consistency issues, that is a good thing! It means that an issue you didn’t know you had is being exposed by the broadhead you’re trying to shoot, and you have an opportunity to fix it and become more lethal!

What is the best way to care for Tooth of the Arrow broadheads?

We recommend putting a thin layer of oil on your blades with a paper towel before putting them in your quiver to avoid any potential rust issues. After shooting them, a Tooth of the Arrow Broadhead Sharpener will bring them back to factory level sharpness and beyond!

 What is covered under warranty?

Our warranty covers any non-hunting damage which occurs within 90-days of receiving your broadheads. Unfortunately, due to the extremely high number of warranty scams we are faced with, we are unable to cover broadheads which have been allegedly damaged in an animal while hunting. Rest assured, we don’t see broadhead damage from hunting very often.

Broadhead damage and blade breaks can happen if the broadhead makes contact with another hard object within the target such as an old field point, broadhead, or insert that has been lost within the target. The other occurrence of broken blades happens when you shoot a broadhead into the target, and then shoot another broadhead or field point at the same spot and they make contact in the target. We will cover this type of damage if it is within 90 days, but we ask that you please avoid shooting the same spot – they are just that accurate!
